Equipment

  • Large saucepan For melting butter and marshmallows
  • Large Mixing Bowl For mixing cereal with melted marshmallows
  • Silicone brain mold Optional but recommended for shape
  • Spatula For stirring
  • Cooking spray or butter For greasing hands/mold

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal Fresh for best texture
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 bag Mini marshmallows (10 oz) Or 40 large marshmallows
  • Red or pink gel food coloring As needed, for brain color
  • Black or purple food coloring As needed, for depth/shadow effect
  • Red decorator gel or syrup As needed, for “bloody” look
  • Candy eyes, gummy worms Optional, for extra creepy garnish

Instructions

  • Melt the Butter and Marshmallows:
In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  • Color the Mixture:
Add red or pink gel food coloring to achieve a brain-like hue. For a more realistic look, swirl in a bit of black or purple gel coloring.
  • Mix with Rice Krispies:
Remove from heat and quickly stir in the Rice Krispies cereal. Mix well until all cereal is coated evenly.
  • Mold into Brain Shapes:
Lightly grease your hands or use gloves. Shape the mixture into small brains by hand or press into a silicone brain mold. Let sit for 10 minutes to firm up.
  • Add Decoration:
Drizzle red decorator gel or syrup into the brain grooves to simulate blood. Add candy eyes or gummy worms if desired.
  • Serve or Store:
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
