  • Baking sheet Lined with parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowl For melting white chocolate chips

Ingredients

  • 12 cups Popped popcorn Plain, unsalted, unbuttered
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar For candy coating
  • 0.5 cup Light corn syrup To help create glossy coating
  • 0.25 cup Water Mix with sugar and syrup
  • 0.5 tsp Red gel food coloring For bloody effect
  • 1 cup White chocolate chips Can substitute with melting wafers
  • 1 tsp Coconut oil Helps with smooth chocolate melting
  • Mini marshmallows Optional spooky topping
  • Candy eyeballs Adds a creepy Halloween look
  • Red M&Ms or Skittles Additional red pop of color
  • Crushed pretzels For a salty crunch

Instructions

  • Prepare the Popcorn:
Spread popped popcorn evenly across a parchment-lined baking sheet. Remove unpopped kernels.
  • Make Red Candy Coating:
In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir constantly on medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and cook (without stirring) until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  • Add Red Color:
Remove from heat, stir in red gel food coloring, and optional cherry extract. Immediately pour over popcorn while mixing to coat evenly.
  • Melt White Chocolate:
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until smooth.
  • Drizzle and Decorate:
Drizzle melted white chocolate over the red-coated popcorn. While still wet, sprinkle mini marshmallows, candy eyes, M&Ms, and crushed pretzels.
  • Cool Completely:
Let the popcorn rest for 30 minutes or until the candy and chocolate coatings harden.
  • Serve or Store:
Break into clusters and serve in themed containers. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

You can use natural food coloring alternatives like beet juice powder if desired.
Swap white chocolate for Greek yogurt drizzle (freeze-dried) for a healthier twist.
Turn this into party favors by packaging in cellophane bags tied with spooky ribbon.
