  • Tongs For flipping chicken
  • Mixing Bowl For combining sauce ingredients
  • Measuring spoons
  • Meat Thermometer Optional, for accurate cooking

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts Boneless, skinless
  • 3 tbsp honey Preferably raw or local
  • 4 cloves garlic Minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Low sodium recommended
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar Or use fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil Or use unsalted butter
  • salt To taste
  • black pepper Freshly ground preferred
  • pinch red pepper flakes Optional, for a spicy kick
  • tbsp fresh parsley or green onion Chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Season the Chicken:
Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Sear the Chicken:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (internal temp: 165°F). Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
Reduce heat to medium. In the same pan, add a little oil if needed. Sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Glaze the Chicken:
Return chicken breasts to the pan. Spoon sauce over the top. Let them simmer in the glaze for 2 more minutes.
  • Garnish and Serve:
Turn off heat. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions. Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or vegetables.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, add ½ teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 teaspoon of water to the sauce before returning the chicken.
Make it gluten-free by substituting tamari for soy sauce.
