Equipment

  • Shot Cups Plastic or silicone molds
  • Mixing Bowl For gelatin mixture
  • Measuring Cup For liquids
  • Teaspoon For assembling eyeballs
  • Toothpick For drawing red veins

Ingredients

  • 1 box Flavored Gelatin 3 oz box; cherry, strawberry, or grape
  • 1 cup Water Boiling
  • 0.5 cup Vodka Or preferred liquor
  • 0.5 cup Water Cold
  • 8–12 Lychees (canned) Drained
  • 8–12 Blueberries Or maraschino cherries
  • as needed Red Food Coloring Or strawberry syrup, for blood effect

Instructions

  • Prepare the Eyeballs
Drain the canned lychees and pat them dry. Insert a blueberry (or cherry) into each lychee to create the look of an iris and pupil.
  • Add Bloodshot Detail
Use a toothpick dipped in red food coloring or syrup to draw veins on the lychee, creating a realistic bloodshot eye.
  • Make the Gelatin Base
In a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup of boiling water over the gelatin mix. Stir until fully dissolved, about 2 minutes.
  • Add Alcohol and Cool
Stir in ½ cup of cold water and ½ cup of vodka. Let the mixture cool slightly before pouring.
  • Assemble the Shots
Place one lychee eyeball in each shot cup, pupil side facing up. Carefully pour the gelatin mixture over each until nearly full.
  • Chill Until Set
Transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin is firm.
  • Serve and Spook!
Optionally, garnish with extra red syrup or place shots on dry ice for dramatic fog effects.

Notes

To make kid-friendly versions, substitute vodka with additional cold water or juice.
Add tonic water for a glow-in-the-dark effect under black light.
These can be made up to 3 days in advance. Store covered in the fridge.
