Ingredients

  • 2 large croissants
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite type)
  • 2 leaves leafy lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • Mayonnaise or your favorite sauce, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Start by prepping all your ingredients. Slice the croissants in half, wash and dry the lettuce leaves, slice the tomato and onion if you opted for those additions.
  • Take the ground beef and divide it into equal parts, about 4 ounces each. Roll them lightly into balls.
  • Place a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef balls to the skillet without overcrowding. Wait for about 30 seconds. Then smash each ball down with a spatula to create a patty.
  • Season the patties generously with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the edges are crispy, then flip them over. Top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover the skillet. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • While the patties cook, you can lightly toast the croissant halves in a separate pan or under the broiler for a minute.
  • Start by placing the bottom half of the croissant on a plate. Slider the cheesy beef patty on top, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, and any other toppings you desire. Finish off with sauces of choice and cap it off with the top half of the croissant.
  • Slice the Croissant Smash Burgers in half if you like, and serve them warm.

Notes

Use quality ground beef for a juicier patty. Consider adding herbs or spices to the beef for more flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
