Equipment

  • Skull-shaped baking mold
  • Skillet or Frying Pan
  • Oven

Materials

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend recommended
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or mozzarella, cubed if preferred
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 package puff pastry or refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter for greasing mold

Optional Add-ins

  • diced pickles optional
  • bacon bits optional
  • jalapeños optional
  • BBQ sauce optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling – In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until softened. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Prepare the Dough – Roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into sections large enough to line the skull molds.
  • Assemble Skulls – Lightly grease the mold. Place pastry into each skull cavity, pressing it against the sides. Add a spoonful of beef mixture, then a cube of cheese, followed by more beef. Fold pastry over the top to seal.
  • Bake – Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake skulls for 18–22 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Cool & Serve – Let rest for 5 minutes before unmolding. Serve warm with ketchup or spooky dipping sauces.

Notes

For extra spooky presentation, drizzle ketchup or sriracha as “bloody” sauce.
These can be prepared ahead and baked right before serving.
Use plant-based ground “meat” for a vegetarian version.
